My pregnant wife left the house yesterday morning for her antenatal care and didn't return home until 7PM in the evening.

Her absence had me worried all day as I kept trying to reach her on the phone but was told It was switched off. It was when I visited the hospital that I was told she never came around. I became very disturbed.

I began calling her family and friends of her whereabout but no one seemed to have any concrete information as to where she could possibly be. I was set to involve the police in the matter when a friend of mine revealed he had seen my wife in the company of other pregnant ladies at a pool party somewhere in town.

"Pool party!?" I exclaimed in disbelief "What's she doing at a pool party?"

"I believe it's a get-together or something. Didn't she tell you about it?" The friend asked

"She never did. She only told me she was going to the hospital for her antenatal checkup"

"Well, I saw her this morning when I went to make supplies in a hotel, but I guess she didn't see me"

I was still speaking with this friend on the phone when my wife suddenly walked in. She lazily walked into the livingroom, dropped her bag on the table and flopped down on the sofa.

"Where are you coming from, madam?" I hung up the call and turned to her

"Nnamdi, you won't believe what happened at the hospital today" She began "I really suffered. Everywhere was so jammed up today and I couldn't reach you as my phone was down"

"Which hospital?"

"Doctor Zik hospital naw"

"I was there today but was told you never showed up"

"No, I mean their headquarters at GRA. That was where I went"

"I was also there but they confirmed you were never there"

"Maybe you came after I left to visit my parents..."

"I equally called your parents and they told me you never came around"

She paused, winced suddenly and clutched her tummy with both hands.

"Ah! My tummy o" She voiced out "This baby has started kicking again"

"Oh! What a special baby" I chipped in sarcastically "Every time kicking kicking. You will tell me if it is Ronaldo you are carrying in your tummy..."

"Nnamdi, I need some rest. Can you please get me water? The baby needs some water"

"You didn't drink enough water at the pool party?"

"Nnamdi, stop it and get me some water before I go into premature labor!"
